Eve is a web-based, Excel-like environment that enables users to create applications by drawing the interface and filling in logic via draggable data boxes. It can connect to external services via APIs so apps can integrate with platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google Maps. Advanced users can extend Eve by writing custom JavaScript functions, and the team plans a GitHub-like social platform for sharing functions and app grids. The core development platform will be open source, while Eve plans to monetize through premium features such as collaboration, versioning, hosting, and computation. The company plans to debut the product in early 2015. Founder Chris Granger, formerly a Product Manager on Microsoft’s Visual Studio team, previously led a coding environment that raised more than $300,000 on Kickstarter.
