Overview
Evecxia Therapeutics is focused on exploiting brain Serotonin Synthesis Amplification to treat CNS disorders with high unmet need. Its lead oral candidate, EVX-101, combines sustained-release 5-hydroxytryptophan with low-dose carbidopa to boost serotonin production and is being advanced as an adjunctive therapy for OCD and depression patients who respond inadequately to first-line SSRIs. The company has completed a Phase 1 safety study of EVX-101 and plans a placebo-controlled Phase 2 proof-of-concept trial in OCD in the first half of 2026 after finishing commercial-scale CMC automation and a small PK bridging study in 2025. A second program, EVX-301, is an intravenous 5-HTP formulation intended for rapid-onset serotonin amplification; a Phase 1b target-engagement study in MDD patients on SSRIs is slated to begin enrollment in Q4 2025 with topline data expected in Q1 2026. If successful, EVX-101 would represent the first novel mechanism-of-action drug introduced for OCD in the 21st century and the first FDA-approved therapy for patients who fail initial SSRI treatment. The company continues to strengthen its patent portfolio around serotonin synthesis amplification. Recent financing gives Evecxia runway to execute these clinical and CMC milestones, though no revenue or user metrics have been disclosed.
