Overview
Everledger operates a blockchain-based platform that captures diamond quality, sustainability footprint and compliance standards to bring transparency to the diamond industry. The new platform version adds demand-generation features that match buyers and suppliers based on diamond quality, sustainability efforts and compliance, including a Search matchmaking tool and Automated Data Sharing. The release introduces Badges as proof-points (for example carbon offsetting certifications, Kimberley Process certificates and invoices) and an Access Control List to manage data privacy and partner access rights. Everledger is ISO 27001 certified and positions the upgraded platform to aid post-COVID recovery for jewellery retailers and manufacturers, particularly supporting ecommerce and demand in China. The company intends to extend transferable features to other verticals such as wine and spirits, luxury and apparel, e-waste and battery lifecycle management. Financially, Everledger announced a USD7 million bridge funding round from the UK Government’s Future Fund and Tencent and previously completed a $20 million Series A at the back end of last year. Everledger provides businesses with a platform to surface and converge asset information using a combination of secure technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, intelligent labelling and the Internet of Things. The company digitally streamlines clients' compliance processes to help them demonstrate the lifetime story of an asset with efficiency and accuracy. By working with Everledger, stakeholders such as producers, manufacturers, certification houses and retailers can further evidence the origin, ownership and characteristics of their assets to conscientious consumers. Founded in 2015 by Leanne Kemp, Everledger is an independent technology company based in London, UK. The company completed a $20M Series A and intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations. Everledger builds a blockchain-based platform that records immutable provenance, authenticity and ownership histories for high-value assets. The company began by tracking diamonds and currently has the provenance of over 2 million diamonds cryptographically certified on the blockchain. Its solution has expanded into coloured gemstones, jewellery, fine wine and art among other industries. Everledger has a team of 40 members across five countries and plans to expand to around 100 employees over the next two years. The company recently opened a Mumbai office and has entered China. It will use the Series A funds to continue developing its platform and to expand its business reach.
