Everyme is a YC-backed mobile startup that enables users to create private groups for photo sharing on mobile devices. The company launched its iPhone app in April and followed with an Android app and Instagram integration a month later. Everyme emphasizes closed groups where only designated members can upload and view photos; families and travel groups are typical use cases. CEO Oliver Cameron described the product's approach as "anti-viral," and the company faces competition from similar group photo and messaging apps such as Quilt. It has attracted thousands of families to the service, is based in Mountain View, Calif., and has seven employees. Financially, Everyme has raised outside capital including a new $2.15M Series A led by Tencent and a prior $1.5M from investors named in earlier filings. Everyme is developing an intelligent address book that imports phone contacts and matches them with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn data while reconciling duplicates on the back end. The company plans an iPhone launch in November and says it will add web and Android apps soon; it also intends to integrate Gmail in the near future. When viewing a contact the app surfaces birthdays, recent mutual events, job and relationship status, location and other social signals. Everyme also acts as a social layer on top of contacts, offering status updates, an activity feed, group messaging circles and automatic segmentation of groups like high school, work and college friends. The company was built by co-founders Oliver Cameron and former MySpace engineer Vibhu Norby and is a graduate of Y Combinator’s Summer class. Everyme announced $1.5 million in funding from a group of prominent investors.
