Evoly builds cost-efficient, plug-and-play smart metering and waste-collection sensors and offers smart electric and water metering-as-a-service. Its software enables remote readings, precise forecasting models, automated billing, fraud detection, and dynamic pricing for utilities. The hardware is designed to be cheaper to deploy and lighter on battery usage than legacy smart meters. The company has signed multiple deployment test agreements with utilities in the US and with waste managers in Switzerland. Evoly plans to use the CHF 150,000 Venture Kick award to further develop its sensor and smart-meter technology and to expand its customer base. The startup is supported by EPFL’s Startup Unit and Y Combinator; its founders are Hassan Lantry (CEO) and Sami El Bouari (CTO).
