ExoStat Medical markets the MicroStat System, a handheld monitor with a disposable probe that measures carbon dioxide under the tongue and is FDA approved. The company says the device is a more accurate early predictor of septic shock and hemodynamic collapse than blood pressure, body temperature, or heart rate. The system is intended for point-of-care settings including emergency transport and arrival, intensive care units, post-operative recovery, dialysis centers, and long-term nursing-care facilities. ExoStat’s website asserts a market opportunity of more than $600 million. According to a recent SEC filing the company has no revenue. Company leadership includes directors and officers based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Scottsdale, Arizona, and a Reuters profile noted a past corporate relationship with Vasamed dating to 2008.
