Overview

Expeto provides a cloud-based platform that enables enterprises to manage multiple private cellular networks (3G, 4G and 5G) from a single interface. The company does not sell cellular service; its tools manage network policies, monitor usage and performance, and enable real-time, self-service changes. The platform is designed to run behind corporate firewalls, in private or public clouds, at the edge, or at remote sites, and supports delivering mobility with a single SIM while maintaining device privileges across different connectivity types. Expeto works with radio access vendors such as Nokia and Ericsson and targets sectors like energy, mining and manufacturing where private networks support remote and automated operations. The company currently has more than 20 customers supporting over 50 private wireless sites; the CEO declined to disclose revenue figures. Expeto plans to use the new funding for product R&D and customer and partner acquisition and says demand has increased during the pandemic-driven shift to automation and remote operations. Expeto Wireless offers a platform that lets enterprises deploy and manage private, agile, and scalable cellular (4G/LTE) networks globally with corporate-grade security. The platform enables customers to deploy connected devices — tablets, digital sensors, connected vehicles — over 4G/LTE within the security of their own private network without relying on third parties. Customers include Fortune 500 oil and gas, mining, and utility companies. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Ryley MacKenzie and is based in San Francisco, CA and Victoria, BC, Canada. Expeto plans to expand current industry engagements with natural resource companies in North America, Europe, and Australia and to further develop global partnerships with Tier 1 cellular providers. The company recently completed a Series A financing to support those growth initiatives. Expeto offers an end-to-end LTE network virtualization platform delivered as-a-service that returns control of IoT device security and network provisioning to the enterprise. The platform can run in any cloud or hardware environment and enables enterprises to create private LTE networks or augment existing cellular networks for global IoT deployments in secure, private environments. Developed over the prior two years, the technology has already been tested by one of the world’s largest aluminum mining operations for remote deployments. The company focuses on removing network, process and legacy barriers so telco network functionality can be exposed, consumed and managed by enterprises. Expeto plans to use its recent seed funding and operational support to advance platform development and increase business development targeting specific industry verticals. The company is positioned at the intersection of telco network virtualization and enterprise demand for controlled IoT deployments.
