Overview
Exuma Biotech Corp. (formerly F1 Oncology) is a clinical-stage company focused on the discovery and development of CAR-T therapies for both solid and liquid tumors. Led by Gregory Frost, Ph.D., the company leverages globally integrated science, development and informatics teams across multiple time zones to accelerate design, high-throughput screening, discovery and development of CAR-T candidates. Exuma is developing logic-gated CAR-T platforms to advance tumor-microenvironment (TME)-restricted cellular therapies for solid tumors and platforms that enable same-day, rapid point-of-care (rPOC) administration for solid or liquid tumors. The company intends to use the Series B proceeds to advance new logic-gated CAR-T therapies for solid tumor malignancies and to further develop and partner its rPOC same-day CAR-T platform technology. Exuma is a private Delaware corporation formed in November 2015 with operations in West Palm Beach, Florida and international affiliates in the Cayman Islands and Shanghai. The company recently completed a $19M Series B financing, including conversion of notes held by individual investors. F1 Oncology, formed in November 2015, discovers and develops adoptive cellular therapies (ACTs) for solid tumors. The company is developing two chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) products aimed at treating metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) and operates two CAB-based ACT platforms to create tumor-microenvironment (TME)-restricted CAR-T therapies. F1 leverages globally integrated science, development and informatics teams across multiple time zones and maintains operations in West Palm Beach, San Diego, and international affiliates in George Town (Cayman Islands), Hong Kong, and Shanghai. It is also developing highly scalable systems for global deployment, beginning in Asia. Financially, F1 Oncology received a $10M equity investment from its backers; that funding was provided by current investors contingent on ethics committee approval of a precision medicine-directed trial. The trial is sponsored by Shanghai Sinobioway Sunterra Biotechnology with participation from its hospital collaborators for the two CAR-T products.
