Overview

Exyn Technologies builds autonomous mapping and robotic systems designed to operate in complex, GPS-denied environments across industries such as mining, logistics, construction, and infrastructure. The company recently introduced Exyn Nexys, a modular 3D mapping solution that can be deployed handheld, backpack-, vehicle-, drone- or robot-mounted and captures up to 1.9 million scan points per second with survey-grade accuracy. Nexys pairs state-of-the-art LiDAR, proprietary SLAM algorithms, integrated hemispherical cameras, and Autonomy Level 4 navigation when attached to a robot, enabling real-time colorized point-cloud visualization and thorough coverage in dynamic environments. Exyn says the product is engineered to IP67 standards and includes accessories such as GPS modules, protective cages, and Drone Link for robot integration. The company plans to use recent capital to accelerate product development, expand market reach, and grow its channel partner network. Exyn is VC-backed, privately held, and headquartered in Philadelphia. Exyn commercializes Autonomy Level 4 (AL4) aerial drone autonomy and robotic autonomy for complex, GPS-denied environments. Its robots autonomously navigate previously inaccessible spaces without a prior map, existing infrastructure (GPS, communications), or an operator in the loop. The company plans to expand worldwide and commercialize its technology across multiple application areas including drone operations, industrial safety, security, and robotics. Reliance Strategic Business Ventures said it will help accelerate Exyn’s product and technology development and commercialization and find synergies with Reliance’s initiatives. Exyn reported turnover of $4.32M in CY2021, $1.83M in CY2020 and $0.16M in CY2019, showing revenue growth over that period. Management says the new capital will be used to expand Exyn’s global footprint and to improve safety for workers in dangerous environments. Exyn Technologies develops aerial and ground-based autonomous robot systems (Advanced Autonomous Aerial Robots, A3Rs™) that autonomously navigate and collect point clouds, imagery, gas readings and other data in GPS-denied environments. Its platforms operate without human control and rely on proprietary technology built on fusion of multiple redundant sensors, mapping for obstacle avoidance, and independent planning. A spin-off of the GRASP Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania and led by CEO Nader Elm, the company is commercializing self-piloting robotics for digitally starved industries with dangerous or inaccessible environments. The company is based in Philadelphia, PA. Exyn raised $16M in a Series A to increase commercial growth, expand its global reach and accelerate technology development. The round brought total funding to date to over $20M.
