Overview
Eyefluence has developed an eye-tracking interaction system designed to translate glances into real-time intent for head-mounted VR and AR displays. The company emphasizes a new interaction model intended to go beyond simply moving a cursor or emulating touch controls. Eyefluence says its system reads intent with a glance rather than requiring a prolonged stare. The team aims to partner with headset makers and become a standard user interface for headset hardware. Motorola intends to use the technology in a Connected First Responder project to let public-safety officials gather information hands-free. Eyefluence emerged from stealth and planned a product demo for early next year; the founders purchased the eye-tracking IP in 2013 and subsequently formed the company. Eyefluence has developed low-power eye-tracking technology that integrates into augmented reality and virtual reality head-mounted displays to provide eye tracking and control. The technology is intended to speed adoption of wearable displays, including Glass, AR, and VR devices across enterprise, industrial, and consumer applications. The company is led by Founder, Chairman and CEO Jim Marggraff and co-founder David Stiehr, VP Marketing, Sales, Business Development. Eyefluence is based in Sunnyvale, California and Reno, Nevada. The company is hiring in Sunnyvale. Eyefluence received an investment from Intel Capital; the amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
