Eyoto is a tele-optometry hardware and software company that originated as a 2013 spinout from Aston University’s School of Optometry. The firm specialises in image processing, computer vision, eye-tracking, machine learning, artificial intelligence and ophthalmic user-interface design. Its eMap product range conducts rapid, detailed surface inspections of glasses for retailers and manufacturers. Eyoto is developing a new product to enable patients to undergo eye examinations remotely and is positioning that launch as a major industry innovation. The company says the new funding will be used to expand research and product development, broaden its technology offering, and improve global accessibility to eye-care. Eyoto also plans to use the investment to create skilled jobs in Birmingham and internationally and to scale its R&D team.
