Omicia develops the Opal Clinical platform, a cloud-enabled, HIPAA-compliant software suite for next-generation sequencing (NGS) interpretation, reporting, and automated diagnostic workflows. The platform leverages a deep variant data warehouse and white-label deployment to deliver high-throughput results and replace manual, costly in-house pipelines. Omicia’s products are used at more than 500 academic and clinical institutions worldwide. Omicia is based in the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland) and focuses on commercializing its big-data genomics offerings. The company closed a $6.8 million Series A to expand marketing reach and further optimize its platform. Recent corporate moves include adding Tad Buchanan and William Gerber to the board alongside CEO Mike Aicher, chairman John Stuelpnagel DVM, and founder/president Martin Reese PhD.
