Overview
Facephi secured financing of up to €1.5 million from its majority shareholder Nice & Green to cover the company’s operating needs. The financing was disclosed on BME Growth. €1 million was delivered at signing on September 2, and the remaining €500,000 is available for drawdown when required. The funds take the form of a loan that accrues variable interest equal to the one‑month Euribor plus 3.50%. The loan has a maximum maturity date of January 31, 2026 and carried a €1,000 formalization fee. The agreement specifies the debt is non‑convertible and must be repaid as financial indebtedness. FacePhi develops AI-based biometric technologies including face, fingerprint, pupil, and voice recognition for authentication. The company is listed on the Spanish and French stock exchanges and operates mainly in Europe and Latin America, with a substantial customer base among financial companies in Korea. FacePhi emphasizes passive anti-spoofing (authenticating identity with a single frontal facial image) and in 2022 received i-Beta Level 2 certification from NIST, placing it among nine passive i-Beta Level 2 companies worldwide. The firm’s passive anti-forgery approach is positioned as a next-generation method as the market shifts toward facial recognition to counter deepfakes. Under the strategic tie-up with Hancom, FacePhi’s multi-recognition biometric technology will be combined with Hancom’s AI, security, reporting, and healthcare tools to develop new services and expand distribution in APAC via white-labeling.
