Faitron makes the portable HeatsBox, a device designed to heat convenience meals independently of location so they can be enjoyed on the go or at the workplace. The company says its innovative technology addresses customer demand for mobile warm meals. Founder Aron Kenessey is quoted on the product’s ability to meet that need. Faitron won the Food category of the Kickstart Accelerator and received a CHF25,000 prize that will support further development. More importantly, the startup secured pilot projects (proofs of concept) with Migros and Coop; Migros’s Bischofszell Nahrungsmittel AG (BINA) published a press release about a collaboration starting in December. BINA notes that over 30 of its ready-to-cook dishes can be heated with the HeatsBox and its Food Innovation unit in Technopark Zürich will help anchor such innovations. Faitron developed HeatsBox, a patent-pending portable heating lunchbox that warms all types of food in under 15 minutes. The product was created by co-founders Fabian Graf and Aron Kenessey and emerged from a multi-year development effort. Several home appliance companies have tested the product successfully, and a board member at Arzum noted the device passed technical assessments. In January 2016 Faitron engaged Chicago-based Rubrik Design for a redesign and filed a second patent application protecting new features. The company emphasizes reducing food waste and promoting healthier, more convenient eating. Faitron has incorporated its headquarters in St. Gallen, Switzerland and plans to finalize the HeatsBox design and move to commercialization.
