Overview
SmackHigh is a geographically centralized social posting service for high school students that aggregates news-based submissions via Twitter, Snapchat and its website and distributes them across thousands of high schools. Posts are organized by geography and affinity groups so teens can connect within school communities and interest groups while posting anonymously under their school identity. The platform leverages thousands of SmackHigh reps—teens who provide moderation and feedback—which has supported organic, community-led growth. The company reports over 800,000 opt-in followers concentrated across 26 states and more than 450 million monthly timeline impressions, with over 800% growth in monthly submissions from February to June. SmackHigh plans to use the seed funding to broaden its nationwide community presence, continue investing in its technology platform, expand its SmackHigh rep presence, and increase marketing, geographic and channel expansion. Founded in 2013 and based in Boston, SmackHigh is led by CEO Giuseppe Stuto, CMO Frank Iudiciani, and CTO Kevin Flynn.
