Overview

Fastdata.io is a Santa Monica, CA–based real-time stream processing company founded in 2016 and led by CEO and founder Alen Capalik, with offices in Seattle. Its core product, FDIO Engine™, is GPU-native software that exploits the massively parallel processing capability of NVIDIA GPUs to provide real-time processing of big data in motion. FDIO Engine processes complex algorithms against terabytes of live streaming data and the company claims it can accelerate stream processing up to 1,000 times faster than CPU-based software. The software reduces total real-time data processing costs as well as power and space requirements in the data center and can run in public cloud or on private servers. FDIO Engine natively runs on the GPU Data Frame (GDF), which uses the Apache Arrow columnar format; GDF is supported by the GPU Open Analytics Initiative (GoAi). Fastdata.io will use the financing to accelerate adoption of its high-performance computing software and plans to launch and demo FDIO Engine at the NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference on March 26–29 in San Jose. Fastdata.io is a Santa Monica, CA-based real-time stream processing company founded in 2016 by Alen Capalik. It is introducing the FDIO Engine™, an efficient stream processing engine that leverages general-purpose computing on GPUs for real-time big data processing. The GPU-based approach is aimed at enabling new application development in industries that require real-time processing, including finance, fraud, security, artificial intelligence and machine learning, virtual and augmented reality, Internet of Things and autonomous vehicles. The company also maintains offices in Seattle, Washington. Fastdata.io raised $1.5M and intends to use the funds to invest in product development, marketing and talent acquisition. Backers included Nvidia and others.
