Federation Bio
300 Utah Ave Ste 100, South San Francisco, CA, 94080, United States
Overview
Federation Bio develops microbial therapeutics by combining large numbers of microbial strains into highly diverse consortia, in some cases optimized with genetically engineered bacteria to enhance immune responses. The company’s lead program targets secondary hyperoxaluria, a condition affecting more than 200,000 Americans, with the goal of entering the clinic in 2022. Federation Bio will use the Series A proceeds to build out an in-house development process to enable Phase 1/2 manufacturing and to advance its lead program into the clinic. The company closed a $50M Series A financing to support these plans. Federation Bio was founded by Michael Fischbach, Ph.D., and Dylan Dodd, M.D., Ph.D.; both founders are professors at Stanford University. Leadership changes announced alongside the financing include Emily Drabant Conley, Ph.D., being named CEO, replacing founding CEO Racquel Bracken, and the additions of John Stuelpnagel, D.V.M., and Dr. Conley to the board.
