Feronia
No. 372, Avenue Colonel Mondjiba, Kinshasa, Gombe, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Overview
Feronia operates and is rehabilitating century‑old palm oil plantations and arable farms in Équateur and Orientale provinces of the DRC, producing palm oil, rice and other crops for the domestic market. The business provides over 3,500 direct jobs and supports approximately 45,000 people in surrounding communities, offering staff housing and multiple health and education facilities. Feronia is executing a replanting programme, restoring infrastructure, and working to increase production efficiencies while aiming to meet international standards such as RSPO certification. The company is moving from rehabilitation into a phase focused on achieving profitability and scaling operations, including further developing its arable farming operations. Financially, CDC’s investment package enabled a total capital raise of US$28.6m, with US$3.6m ring‑fenced to implement an Environmental and Social Action Plan to improve housing, sanitation, medical and school facilities.
