Ferrum offers a HIPAA-compliant patient-safety platform that runs computer vision and natural language processing on radiology images, reports, and physician notes to spot discrepancies and flag cases for secondary review. The platform can be deployed on-premises or in cloud environments and integrates with systems from GE, Carestream, Vital Images, Agfa, and others. Health systems using Ferrum have reported thousands of identified “significant findings,” including CGMH capturing 35 times more missed findings than expert peer review. The product is live in the U.S., Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia at dozens of hospital systems that collectively serve about 12 million patients. In a pilot at Sutter Health, Ferrum reviewed 10,000 CT scans in the first 90 days and found 83 lung nodules warranting follow-up. CEO Pelu Tran says the company plans to expand beyond radiology and use AI to create a technological “second set of eyes” to improve patient safety.
