Fiber Elements
Prettachstraße 10, Leoben, Steiermark, 8700, Austria
Overview
Fiber Elements has developed fully automated manufacturing technology for three-dimensional basalt fiber structures as a sustainable alternative to steel-reinforced concrete. The company’s mineral composites are described as three times stronger than steel and two-thirds lighter, and basalt fibers resist corrosion and are fully recyclable. Its solution can cut CO2 emissions by up to 70% compared with traditional steel reinforcement. Fiber Elements has completed pilot projects, is serving five customers, and holds one granted patent with several additional applications submitted in 2025. The startup collaborates with Technical University of Leoben, BOKU Vienna, and TU Wien and plans AI-driven optimisation of its digital workflow. With the new funding it intends to industrialise production, deploy on-site "nano-factories," and double its team from 10 to 20 employees by year-end.
