Field develops and operates grid‑feeding battery energy storage systems to support renewable integration and grid flexibility. Founded in February 2021 (formerly Virmati Energy) by Amit Gudka, the company is building projects across the UK with plans to expand into Western Continental Europe. Field currently has a 20 MWh site in Oldham live and four additional UK sites in or near construction (Newport, Blackburn, Gerrards Cross and Auchteraw) for a combined total of 210 MWh. The company is advancing a broader 4.5 GWh pipeline of battery projects that the team intends to build and operate. Field has been backing its growth with external capital, including a June 2022 £77 million raise and the recent investment announced here. Management says the new funding will accelerate development and buildout to support wider deployment of wind and solar power.
