Fig augments the command-line terminal with features like autocomplete and a platform for shareable Markdown-based apps. Autocomplete narrows suggestions as users type, finishing paths, tracking recent Git branches, and surfacing common cloud commands to save keystrokes and time. The Markdown-based apps give users a visual, discoverable interface that can be launched from the terminal and pipe adjusted output back into the command line. Fig plans to build an app ecosystem aimed at teams that use the terminal heavily, monetizing via a monthly subscription for shared internal tools, scripts, deployment workflows and monitoring commands. The company is in private beta and reports tens of thousands of users on its waitlist. Fig currently supports macOS' built-in Terminal and integrations for VSCode, Hyper and iTerm, with Windows and Linux support on the roadmap.
