FiinRatings is one of only five licensed domestic credit rating agencies in Vietnam, delivering credit-worthiness evaluations and related analytical services for the country’s capital markets. The firm’s charter capital has just been raised from VND 25 billion to VND 28.99 billion (an increase of almost 16%) following a strategic investment by S&P Global Ratings. Post-transaction, ownership is concentrated between FiinGroup (56.55%) and new shareholder S&P Global Ratings (43.44%), who together hold 99.994% of the company. The partnership is expected to bolster FiinRatings’ analytical capabilities, help it adopt international standards, and provide more objective, in-depth ratings for Vietnamese issuers. Future collaboration plans include joint analytical work, staff training, information sharing and co-hosting industry seminars aimed at deepening Vietnam’s debt capital market. Two S&P Global representatives are slated to join FiinRatings’ Board of Directors to support governance and growth initiatives.
