Fiksu
177 Huntington Ave, Boston, 02115
Overview
Fiksu provides a data-driven programmatic mobile demand platform that offers ad tracking, optimization, media buying and integrations for app publishers and marketers. The company claims data assets tied to over 3.3 billion app installs and says it has tracked 4.7 trillion marketing events across 1.7 billion devices while promoting more than 2,300 apps. Fiksu reports more than $100 million in revenues and recently grew headcount to 300 after hiring 100 employees. It serves roughly 800 customers, including Coca-Cola, Disney, Topps, Dunkin’ Donuts and Groupon. Fiksu uses big-data and AI-based approaches to analyze mobile ad effectiveness and publishes monthly indexes on app-store marketing costs. The company says it plans to double its Boston office space and continue expanding its workforce worldwide in 2015; it also lists offices in San Francisco, Northampton (MA), London, Finland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, New York, Chicago and L.A. Fiksu runs a service that helps mobile developers find the cheapest way to acquire new users across dozens of channels, from display ad networks to install networks and real-time bidding exchanges. The company reports up to 225 billion iOS and Android ad impressions in its network per month through 40 different ad networks and RTB exchanges. Fiksu said the cost to acquire a "loyal user" (one who opens an app three times) fell to $1.26 in May from $1.46 the previous month. The company employs more than 100 people and plans to double its headcount in the next year. It plans to use new funding to expand internationally with additional offices in the U.K. and Asia and to scale its real-time bidding infrastructure. Apple’s changes to the ID system have caused short-term hesitancy in app-marketing spend, though Fiksu expects a new iOS ID system to bring renewed opportunity. Fiksu offers a user-acquisition platform that sits on top of the mobile ecosystem, distributing brand marketing spend across ad networks (including AdMob), real-time bidding systems, and incentivized download networks like TapJoy. The product uses a proprietary algorithm, app-store behavior insights, and a real-time allocation engine to dynamically optimize spend across channels. During its private beta the company worked with brands including Ask.com, Barnes & Noble, Groupon, Hearst Magazines, PlayScreen, Tunewiki, Where and VH1. The platform’s optimizations have contributed to more than 44 million downloads and over 1 billion app launches from those downloads. Fiksu reports average loyal user acquisition costs under $1.00, sometimes as low as $0.45 per user. The company, led by founder Micah Adler and formerly known as Fluent Mobile, is launching this platform to help brands attract large volumes of loyal users and reduce acquisition costs.
