FileChat is a mobile and web platform that adds social collaboration features (chat, likes, voting and threaded discussions) directly into users' cloud storage. It currently supports Dropbox and Google Drive and is available as web, Android and iOS apps. Key features include real-time notifications, a dedicated search for discussions on documents, preview/edit via users' preferred apps, and owner controls for invitations and permissions. FileChat is free today and says it will introduce premium services/levels in the coming months. The company has secured a $3 million round of funding from private investors to support development and the platform launch. FileChat was founded in Paris in 2013 and is based out of New York.
