Filmhub operates a technology-driven distribution platform that allows filmmakers to upload and place content on over 100 streaming channels, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, IMDb TV, Tubi and Plex. The company vets content for technical specifications, uses automated tooling plus a sales team to secure placements, and typically takes a 20% revenue share while allowing filmmakers to retain their rights. Filmhub has grown from distributing thousands of titles to about 10,000 titles and reports revenue has increased 3x year-over-year. It leverages its dataset to help streaming partners determine what content will perform best on their services. Founded in 2016 as a side project by composer Klaus Badelt and taken full time with co-founder Alan d’Escragnolle in 2020, the company now has roughly 35 employees and is hiring across engineering, technical operations and sales. Filmhub plans to launch its own direct-to-consumer streaming service that will feature filmmakers’ content and be available across devices and as an add-on within other platforms.
