Overview
Finexkap is an early pioneer in working-capital financing, offering invoice financing and factoring to SMEs in continental Europe. Companies can access credit directly on Finexkap's site or via B2B partners using its API. Since launch the platform has provided approximately €300 million in working-capital financing to more than 1,800 customers. The company has set a goal to finance €1 billion of invoices by 2021. The recent funding is intended to support platform growth and expand financing capacity through an investment fund managed by Finexkap Asset Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Management says the capital provides sufficient resources to support origination growth over the next two years. Finexkap operates a web platform that purchases small and midsize enterprises' receivables to provide short-term working capital. It is described as the first French working-capital financing platform to buy SMEs' receivables online. The company has raised $22.5M in total, including a $7.5M Series A equity round and a further $15M earmarked to finance the platform’s initial deals. Series A proceeds will be used to ramp up data and product operations, marketing, and hiring. GLI Finance contributed $4.1M of the Series A, and the $7.5M Series A equates to a 26.44% ownership stake. The fundraising responds to a large market need: short-term financing issues are responsible for more than 25% of French corporate bankruptcies.
