Overview

Mozido operates a white-label, cloud-based mobile payments and consumer engagement platform called MoTEAF that supports mobile financial services, loyalty programs, and mobile offers. The company is expanding its platform capabilities through strategic transactions to support both cloud-based and hardware-based secure element solutions for NFC payments. Mozido recently made a strategic investment in HCE pioneer SimplyTapp to gain access to patented host card emulation technology and cloud-based credentials management. That investment complements Mozido’s majority acquisition of CorFire, adding Trusted Service Management (TSM) and tokenization capabilities. Together, Mozido says the combined capabilities will enable plug-and-play card issuance and NFC tap-to-pay support for merchants, banks, and branded mobile applications. Mozido positions these integrations to deliver tokenized offers, stored-value, private-label and network-branded cards, and interoperable loyalty and payments experiences to its customers globally. Led by founder Michael Liberty, Mozido offers MoTEAF, a cloud-based platform that enables merchants, CPGs, financial institutions and government agencies to deliver mobile solutions such as bill payments, airtime top-up, person-to-person and merchant payments, loyalty programs, direct deposit of government payments, and customized marketing via basic SMS devices or smartphones. MoTEAF works with any wireless carrier or mobile device and integrates with products from other vendors. Mozido operates nationwide mobile payment and marketing implementations in the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States. The company intends to use recent funding for strategic acquisitions to accelerate growth of its ecosystems of financial, payment and marketing mobile services. It plans to expand its global presence through additional acquisitions in China, India, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Mozido provides an integrated platform of cloud-based, white-label mobile payment, shopping and marketing solutions complemented by real-time customer behavior analytics. The platform works with any wireless carrier or mobile device, including smartphones and feature phones, and is designed to serve both banked and unbanked consumers. Mozido targets customers in retail, financial services, consumer packaged goods and telecom. The company has operations in the US, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with expansion into India and Africa coming soon. Founded by Michael Liberty and based in Austin, TX, Mozido announced leadership changes with Ric Duques becoming chairman of the board. The company intends to use recent funds to accelerate growth organically and through strategic acquisitions. Mozido offers a complete suite of mobile financial services that process transactions to move money, pay bills, make purchases and accept social payments across mobile devices, POS terminals and the Internet. The company works with financial institutions, mobile network operators and retailers to deliver global financial services to unbanked and under‑banked consumers. Mozido plans to launch a number of commercial deployment programs in 2011 specifically serving the unbanked population. To support these initiatives and drive growth, Mozido secured growth funding from TomorrowVentures. Established in 2006 and led by CEO Craig McNeil, the company is based in Dallas, Texas. The funding is intended to expand commercial deployments and partner offerings for reaching unbanked consumers.
