Firemaps operates a marketplace that dispatches a crew with a drone to generate high-resolution, centimeter-accurate 3D models of homes in high-risk fire zones and then identifies hardening options. Within about 20 minutes the company produces a model and solicits bids from trade contractors on its platform. Vetted contractors pay to be listed, enabling them to receive shovel-ready projects without separate site visits. The startup has hundreds of homeowners signed up on its website and a few dozen properties scanned to date. Firemaps launched in California and was founded in March; its near-term goal is to make the model repeatable and scalable, targeting hundreds of homes per week. The team is led by co-founder Jahan Khanna, his brother (a civil engineer), and Rob Moran, all of whom have prior startup and engineering experience.
