Fischer Block builds an Internet-of-Things platform for system management at power utilities and large industrial plants. The company produces patented wireless devices called “SMART Blocks” that feed a predictive analytics platform. SMART Blocks provide equipment health insights for assets such as wind turbines and motors to help crews avoid unplanned shutdowns. Founder Greg Wolfe said traction is increasing and the team plans to scale up operations. The recent funding will be used to advance the company’s predictive analytics capabilities. Fischer Block is based in West Chester, Pa. Fischer Block develops IoT-based technology aimed at improving energy reliability across industries. The company says it possesses this capability internally and through a small number of ecosystem partners. Founded by electrical engineer Greg Wolfe, Fischer Block plans to use recent funding to advance commercial activities such as pilot programs, product rollouts, and marketing. The firm has seven employees, a mix of full-timers and contracted engineers. Financially, Fischer Block previously secured $300,000 in seed cash at PACT’s IMPACT 2016 conference and has just added a six-figure angel investment from Broad Street Angels.
