Overview

Fisker Inc. is developing the all-electric luxury Fisker Ocean SUV and aims to launch and begin production in 2022. The Ocean was revealed at CES 2020 and starts at $37,499 before federal tax credits or state incentives. Fisker said it raised $50 million to fund the next phase of engineering work on the SUV. The company has strengthened its executive team by hiring Burkhard Huhnke as CTO; he will split time between R&D in Los Angeles and Fisker’s Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley. Fisker received a strategic investment from Caterpillar Ventures. The amount of that investment was not disclosed. Caterpillar Ventures is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
