Bicester Innovation Centre, Commerce House, Telford Road, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX26 4LD, United Kingdom

Overview

FitnessGenes offers a DNA-testing platform that analyzes multiple gene variations alongside lifestyle and environmental factors to prescribe personalized, week-by-week exercise and nutrition programs. The company’s core product combines peer-validated genetic research with an interpretation engine to reveal traits such as metabolic tendencies, dietary sensitivities, muscle type, fat‑burning capacity and recovery time. FitnessGenes works with academic partners including the Universities of Oxford, Birmingham and Loughborough and is part of an Illumina-led consortia alongside 23andMe. The company has received funding from the UK government’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, and has a patent-pending platform it plans to advance. Management says the Series A proceeds will be used to grow the product offering and expand operations in North America and Europe. FitnessGenes is based in Los Angeles and London and was founded by scientists Dr. Samantha Decombel and Dr. Stuart Grice together with Dr. Dan Reardon and Mark Gilbert.
