Overview
Fitnet provides a mobile fitness training app that uses a webcam and computer-vision technology to score clients during human-led workouts (yoga, taiji, strength and cardio) and deliver real-time trainer feedback. Workouts can be customized by level and preference, include trainer feedback, and adjust based on past performance. The app connects clients with personal trainers and offers real-time individual feedback and workout scoring. Launched in January 2014 by Bob Summers, Fitnet is expanding its content and app capabilities. The company intends to use new funding to expand the app’s capabilities and increase the number of workouts available. Fitnet completed a $1.4M Series A to support these product and content expansion plans. Fitnet is a virtual fitness studio application offering weekly video workouts across disciplines such as yoga, karate, Pilates and kickboxing, combined with computer vision–based biometric feedback and social features. Co-founded by Bob Summers, the app also helps trainers reach their audiences. Users receive a free membership supported by targeted video advertisements and can upgrade to a $5-per-month premium subscription. Fitnet raised funding from The Center for Innovative Technology’s (CIT) CIT GAP Funds; the amount was undisclosed. The company intends to use the funds to develop an iPad application and to advance market validation of the product. The business is headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia.
