Fiverr
8 Kaplan St., Tel Aviv, 6473409, Israel
Overview
Fiverr operates an online marketplace and catalog for small services, positioning itself as an e-commerce business rather than a traditional labor marketplace. The platform lets freelancers package offerings into tiered listings, moving beyond an initial $5 price point to allow upsells and higher-end services. The company has more than 200 employees across five offices (Tel Aviv, New York, Chicago, Miami, and San Francisco) and processes close to 1 million transactions a month, with more than 25 million transactions total since founding. Fiverr reports triple-digit revenue growth year-over-year and retains a 20% take rate on transactions; some jobs on the platform can cost up to $10,000. With $60 million in fresh financing, management says acquisitions are on the radar to accelerate growth and gain market share, and an IPO remains one option among others. About one-third of its total transactions occurred in the last 12 months, indicating accelerating activity. Fiverr operates an online marketplace that connects buyers with creative and professional services. Led by co-founder and CEO Micha Kaufman, the company is rolling out Fiverr 3.0, which lets buyers customize searches and allows creatives to package their skills as products. The 3.0 release also enhances communications and the ability for exchanges and knowledge sharing within the Fiverr community. Fiverr intends to use the Series C proceeds to expand operations and accelerate global product releases. The company has a team of 130 and maintains primary offices in New York, Miami, and Tel Aviv. In November 2014 it raised $30m in Series C funding from venture investors. Fiverr operates a global marketplace where freelancers offer “Gigs” — services ranging from web design and logo creation to personal greetings and video animation — with listings starting at $5. The platform handles payments, promotion, order management, file exchange and buyer–seller communication. It has over 650,000 tasks listed and reports millions of tasks completed, with more than 30% of transactions above the $5 starting price; tasks range from $5 to $150. Transaction volume grew 600% since the beginning of 2011, and the company employs more than 40 people across Israel, the U.S. and Europe. Fiverr launched a reputation-based “Levels” system in January 2012 to enable seller up‑selling after 10 completed transactions. The company plans to use new funding for global expansion, product development and hiring, and aims to double its team by the end of 2012.
