Overview

Fivetran provides an automated data movement platform that handles extracts, schema drift, and transformations to simplify ELT and pipeline management for data engineers. The company emphasizes reliability with self‑healing pipelines and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Product additions include a Metadata API for governance, support for Amazon S3 with Apache Iceberg, High‑Volume Agent connectors, AWS GovCloud support, private deployment options, and Lite connectors for broad SaaS coverage. Fivetran reported more than $200 million in annual revenue run rate (50% year‑over‑year growth), serves over 5,000 global brands, and records more than 180,000 connectors synced per month, moving 2,500 TB of data monthly while managing 1.3 million schema changes. The company plans to accelerate R&D and expand its automated data movement platform as it continues to scale globally. Fivetran delivers automated data integration with ready-to-use connectors that automatically adapt as schemas and APIs change, continuously synchronizing data to enable analysts to work with fresh data. The platform also automates in-warehouse transformations and programmatically manages ready-to-query schemas to accelerate analytics. Fivetran announced it will acquire HVR to add enterprise-grade database replication performance, change data capture connectors, and a secure on-premise option for legacy databases. The acquisition (cash and stock) is valued at $700 million and is expected to close in early October, subject to customary approvals. Fivetran said the combined capabilities will expand its ability to modernize analytics for ERP systems, Oracle databases, and other operational data sources. The company serves thousands of global customers including ASICS, Autodesk, Conagra Brands, DocuSign, Square and others, and HVR counts dozens of Fortune 500 brands among its customers. Financially, Fivetran raised a $565 million Series D and is now valued at $5.6 billion, having raised $730 million to date. Fivetran provides a SaaS service that connects to companies' critical data sources, pulls and processes that data, and loads it into data warehouses for SQL access and downstream transformations. The product replaces highly customized, in-house ETL pipelines by offering managed connectors and ongoing maintenance. The company reports 75% customer growth over the prior 12 months and now serves more than 1,100 customers, including Databricks, DocuSign, Forever 21, Square, Udacity and Urban Outfitters. With the new funding, Fivetran plans to build additional data connectors and expand into new markets. CEO George Fraser said the company has continued to add customers despite economic uncertainty, positioning the product as a way to reduce total cost of ownership. The recent capital should provide runway to grow the product and expand reach. Fivetran is a SaaS company that automates moving data from disparate repositories into cloud data warehouses. It connects to critical data sources, pulls and processes the data, and loads it into warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and RedShift for SQL access and downstream transformations. The company reports more than 750 customers and says revenue grew 3x over the past 12 months. Fivetran offers roughly 150 connectors today and plans to expand that array to cover more data requirements. CEO and co-founder George Fraser said growth is driving hiring: headcount rose from 80 at the Series A to 175 today, and he expects it to double again over the next year. The company intends to invest the new capital in engineering talent and product expansion to support its growth. Fivetran provides automated data pipelines to move data from sources like Salesforce and NetSuite into cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and analytics tools (Looker, Tableau, Periscope). The company’s product automates ingestion and keeps warehouses updated while hiding the underlying complexity from customers, positioning it against incumbents such as Informatica and SnapLogic. Fivetran launched out of Y Combinator in 2012 and until this round had taken only $4M in seed funding, otherwise relying on revenue. It employs about 100 people across offices in Oakland, Denver, Bangalore and Dublin and serves roughly 500 customers including Square, WeWork, Vice Media and Lime Scooters. A partner-focused strategy with integrations into Snowflake, Looker, Google BigQuery, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Redshift, Tableau, Periscope Data, Salesforce, NetSuite and PostgreSQL has supported adoption. The new capital will be used to continue building its automated pipeline platform and expand its go-to-market and partner efforts.
