FlatClub
167-169 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF
Overview
FlatClub operates a membership-based short-stay marketplace for students and alumni of elite universities, requiring a university email for verification. The service launched first in London and expanded across 30 U.S. and UK universities, and now reports 50,000 verified members and listings from alumni of more than 50 top universities. The platform targets longer stays (average nearly a month) and charges guests a 6–15% fee while not charging hosts. Hosts can restrict listings to specific alumni communities to increase trust; FlatClub cites research and its own claims about higher host participation versus standard peer-to-peer models. Last year members of the FlatClub community earned $250K renting to trusted guests, and the largest club is the London Business School Club with 2,000 members. Founded by former London Business School graduates Nitzan Yudan and Tomer Kalish, the company plans to grow listings from 10,000 to 30,000 and to launch a new technology platform to expand across Europe and the USA.
