Flats or Spikes is a Champaign, Ill.-based crowdsensing data collection and predictive analytics company focused on distance runners and endurance teams. Its mobile crowdsensing, data-science platform captures split and race times and applies predictive analytics for coaches and athletes. The company provides a universal timing system intended to replace paper-based timing used at meets and practices. That universal timing system also enables a virtual racing platform. Leadership includes co-founders and executives Paul S Miller, PhD (CEO) and Brent Trenhaile, PhD (COO). In June 2021 Flats or Spikes raised $900K in pre-seed funding; the backers were not disclosed.
