Overview

Flexciton is a London-based optimisation technology company founded in 2016 that builds software to radically improve the efficiency and productivity of semiconductor manufacturing. Its solution analyses real-time fab data and applies AI-powered mathematical algorithms and Mixed Integer Linear Programming to evaluate trillions of scheduling options and make optimal decisions. The company reports proven efficiency gains of around 10%, which for a 1,000-machine fab can save tens of millions of euros per year. Flexciton’s team has grown to 41 people combining mathematics, semiconductor scheduling, AI, optimisation, data science and software development. The founders are Jamie Potter and Dennis Xenos. The company says the fresh funding will be used for further expansion and hiring across the team. Flexciton builds an AI-driven solution to optimise planning and scheduling of complex, multi-step production lines. Its technology learns from a factory’s data and searches through trillions of options to find more efficient production plans, with the company reporting double-digit performance gains. The product targets particularly complicated factories where manual planning is hardest. Flexciton is already revenue-generating and has customers in the textiles, food, automotive and semiconductor sectors. The team includes industrial optimisation and AI experts who have published over 140 peer-reviewed papers, and its senior optimisation scientist has published a book on the subject. The company was associated with Entrepreneur First, pitching at EF’s 6th London demo day in 2016.
