FlexiDAO provides a software platform that uses blockchain technology to certify and trace electricity from production to consumption and enable 24/7 carbon and energy tracking. The platform lets customers understand the origin and carbon footprint of the energy they consume, procure granular hourly certificates, and verify hourly matches between consumption and green energy purchases. FlexiDAO is active in 13 countries and works with renewable suppliers and energy buyers including Acciona, Iberdrola, Vodafone, and Iron Mountain. The company was founded by Joan Collell and Simone Accornero; Accornero is CEO and speaks to the platform's role in helping companies reach net-zero targets. The new capital will be used to scale the software worldwide, with a focus on the US and Europe. Microsoft has run a Netherlands datacenter pilot of FlexiDAO’s granular energy certification, and Google and Microsoft have signalled strategic interest alongside the investment. FlexiDAO provides a software platform for energy retailers that harnesses blockchain to deliver energy data management tools and new smart energy services. The platform lets customers select preferred local renewable plants and track the matching of green energy with their consumption on an hourly basis. Its provenance tool is tracking more than 4 GWh of energy across PPAs, green tariffs, onsite generation, and electric vehicles. FlexiDAO offers white-label blockchain applications on top of middleware that can access any blockchain infrastructure in an enterprise-grade, secure way. The company has partnered with six leading utilities, including Iberdrola and Acciona. Founded in 2017 and born in Barcelona, FlexiDAO is now headquartered in Amsterdam and recently closed a seven-digit seed round led by SET Ventures with participation from KIC InnoEnergy. Management says the SET Ventures partnership will help them accelerate their mission to coordinate millions of distributed energy resources on the grid.
