Flirtomatic is a mobile social network aimed at young adults, accessible via web and native mobile apps on iPhone, iPod touch and Android, with native Blackberry and Symbian builds planned. The service combines social features with virtual and real-world goods and monetizes through advertising and sales of those goods. The company claims 2.5 million users across the US and UK. Flirtomatic has distribution and co-marketing partnerships with carriers and partners including AT&T, MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile, and has signed a distribution deal to launch across eight countries under a single payment and billing system. The new funding is intended to further growth across Europe and the US and to expand co-marketing and distribution efforts. Flirtomatic is a freemium mobile and online flirting service that enables users to send messages, virtual gifts, promote themselves and access premium features using purchased 'Flirt Points'. The product is available on mobile and web and monetizes through advertising and paid premium services; users can buy Flirt Points by credit card or by charging them to their mobile phone bill. The company has pursued rapid international expansion—its launch in Australia through ninemsn is its third international launch in the last year, and services in Germany and the US are reported to be growing quickly. Flirtomatic reports a 1.4m user base that sends over 25m messages per month and generates more than 100m WAP page views monthly; users send over 1m virtual gifts per year. The service also runs integrated ad campaigns (for example, Strongbow's campaign drove 385,000 virtual pints and a 10% click-through rate on coupon redemptions). Flirtomatic has received undisclosed venture funding from Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures and Seraphim Capital.
