Overview

Flow is a residential real estate company focused on rentals and co-living led by former WeWork CEO Adam Neumann. Bloomberg reported that Neumann has raised over $100 million in capital for Flow in a round that values the company at about $2.5 billion. Existing backer Andreessen Horowitz participated in the financing. Previously, Flow raised $350 million from Andreessen Horowitz at a $1 billion valuation in 2022. Neumann told Bloomberg he was "sure" Flow could go public "one day." The new funding drew attention given Neumann's history with WeWork, which was once valued at $47 billion, filed for bankruptcy protection in 2023, and was acquired by Yardi for $450 million; TechCrunch has reached out to Andreessen Horowitz and Flow for comment. Flow is a new residential real estate company founded by Adam Neumann that plans to bring community-oriented features to the rental market. The company is slated to begin operations in 2023 and plans to operate more than 3,000 apartment units Neumann purchased in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta and Nashville. The Times reports the funding round values Flow at over $1 billion, making it a unicorn before it has commenced operations. Public descriptions emphasize building community among renters as a core part of Flow’s product vision. The article links Flow to Neumann’s prior experiments in residential communities (WeLive) and positions Flow as an attempt to pursue those ideas at scale. No operating revenue or user metrics were disclosed in the reporting.
