4601 Fairfax Drive, Suite 600, Arlington, VA, 22203, United States
Overview
Fluence develops large-scale battery-based energy storage systems and power management software for utilities and independent power project developers. The business is a joint venture between AES Corp. and Siemens, and has already deployed roughly five gigawatts of energy storage and management systems. With a new $125 million investment from the Qatar Investment Authority, Fluence’s valuation rises to over $1 billion. The company plans to develop and acquire software and services to broaden offerings to core clients and is investing in digital capabilities to expand dispatch beyond storage. Fluence’s leadership has signaled potential future liquidity from the public markets. Management also said the company may team up with other energy suppliers, including developers of hydrogen projects, to integrate battery storage with broader energy systems.
