Overview

FluGen is developing REDEE FLU, a novel single-replication live influenza vaccine that infects cells and expresses influenza RNA and proteins but does not produce infectious virus. In multiple preclinical animal models REDEE FLU has been safe, induced robust innate, antibody and cellular immune responses, and protected against mismatched or "drifted" influenza strains. The company plans to complete preclinical testing, run an initial Phase 1 human clinical trial, and prepare a quadrivalent vaccine candidate. FluGen completed a $12 million Series A to support these development and clinical activities. The company was founded in 2005 and is based in Madison, Wisconsin, and its lead technology was invented at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and exclusively licensed to FluGen by WARF. FluGen has also added experienced vaccine executives to its board to support development, commercialization and partnering efforts.
