FlyFeed
Narva mnt 5, Tallinn, Harju maakond, 10117, Estonia
Overview
FlyFeed converts organic leftovers into black soldier fly–based products including insect protein flour, insect fat and fertilizers, initially targeting animal and pet feed. The company says it has secured more than $10 million in pre-contracts to verify demand. FlyFeed closed a $3 million angel round and has used personal funds to build infrastructure and develop its production technology. Its first industrial-sized farm is planned for Vietnam in 2023, with projected output of more than 17.5 thousand tons of insect products per year and processing of over 40 thousand tons of organic leftovers. FlyFeed was founded less than a year ago and plans to open 10 farms across Asia and Africa by 2026. The company aims to introduce insect flour for human consumption in about five years and says partnerships with local authorities will supply and process feedstock for free.
