Flylab produces insect-based ingredients using black soldier fly (BSF) larvae for animal feed, targeting aquafeed and pet food manufacturers. The company closed a USD 1 million seed and pre-Series A financing in 2022 led by Sanyo Trading to help scale commercial operations. It was previously co-financed by ALES Global Investment Partnership III and MSIVC2021V Venture Capital Investment Limited Partnership to build its first BSF pilot plant in northern Thailand. Rising conventional feed costs have increased demand for BSF meal, and Flylab reports a large amount of inbound interest and signed contracts covering full production capacity for the next three years. The company plans to raise a USD 15 million Series A in 2023 to build its first industrial-scale factory in Bangkok to produce more than 6,000 MT of insect-based ingredients.
