W3 Storage Lab, led by CEO Xinglu Lin, has co-developed a next-generation distributed storage ecosystem based on the public blockchain and the cyfs:// protocol. cyfs:// reinvents basic Web protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP) and has been in development for over seven years; it was recently open sourced. The company has worked closely with the DMC Foundation as a major developer of the Datamall Coin ecology to create an efficient market and incentives for decentralized storage. The DMC token is currently on Testnet and is planned for Mainnet release in the near future. W3 Storage Lab is building a series of consumer and enterprise applications that will leverage cyfs:// and decentralized storage and says those applications will be announced in the coming weeks. The firm intends to use the new funding to grow its global team and support operations.
