For Days
13100 Yukon Ave Ste B, Hawthorne, CA, 90250, United States
Overview
For Days operates a closed-loop manufacturing and recycling system that makes T-shirts from USA-grown organic cotton in its Los Angeles factory and turns returned shirts into pulp blended with fresh fiber. Customers buy an annual T-shirt membership (pricing tiers from $38 for one shirt to $340 for ten) that includes free shipping and unlimited "refreshes" for $8 per T-shirt, allowing members to mail back used items for recycling. The company says the recycled yarn ends up as a 70/30 blend of new and recycled fibers used to make new For Days clothing. For Days launched its membership program in May 2018 to a waitlist and opened to the public in September, and it reports double-digit monthly growth though it is not disclosing specific user counts. To date the company says it has moved 1,500 pounds of clothing through its closed-loop system and saved more than 235,000 gallons of water and 2,400 pounds of CO2 by using 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. The founders plan to expand into more product categories and in 2019 aim to design a factory in Hawthorne, CA and launch a zero-waste manufacturing initiative built around renewable energy, water reclamation and biomimicry.
