Foremost designs and manufactures small-batch, American-made clothing and will sell a monthly collection with one outfit per gender composed of three to five items priced around $50 or below each. The brand is founded by the same team behind Need and will reuse Need’s infrastructure and mailing list to reach early customers. Foremost pairs commerce with content: it will publish a monthly online magazine and produce two video interviews per month to showcase the collections. Its in-house design and controlled manufacturing process aim to deliver J.Crew-like quality at closer-to-H&M prices by keeping production small and exclusive. The company plans to launch its first collection on February 11 at noon EST and is targeting a younger 18–25 demographic. To get the project off the ground Foremost has raised $400,000 from investors and will leverage operational experience from Need, which has a mailing list of more than 300,000 subscribers.
