Overview
ForeVR Games builds easy-to-play casual VR titles, including ForeVR Bowl, ForeVR Darts and ForeVR Cornhole, playable single-player or multiplayer on Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2. The company connects its games via in-game portals so players who own multiple ForeVR titles can meet and move between halls and lanes. Gameplay features include unlockable skins, YouTube-powered jukeboxes, and themed environments such as Atlantis or a British pub. ForeVR calls its ecosystem the "ForeVRse" and plans to expand the library with additional Wii Sports-like games. The company will launch ForeVR Pool, an 8-ball pool game, on November 17 for $20 on the Meta Quest Store. Financially, ForeVR said it has surpassed $1 million in revenue and is leveraging new funding to grow its portfolio and platform capabilities. ForeVR Games is a Los Angeles–based developer focused on turning real-life (IRL) games into virtual reality experiences. The company's flagship title, ForeVR Bowl, launched in May on Oculus and features themed lanes, jamming soundtracks, collectible balls, and next-generation avatars. The studio is led by industry veterans Marcus Segal and Mike Pagano Doom. ForeVR plans to use the new funding to build out the team, develop new games, expand to additional platforms, and continue upgrading ForeVR Bowl. Financially, the company raised an additional $7M in seed financing in this round, bringing total capital raised to $8.5M. ForeVR is developing mass-market virtual reality games aimed at all ages and geographies, debuting with a VR bowling title called ForeVR Bowl. The company came out of stealth and raised $1.5 million in a seed round. Founders Marcus Segal and Mike Pagano Doom, both Zynga veterans, lead a 10-person team based in San Francisco and Los Angeles that includes creatives from Glu, Disney, Electronic Arts, and Zynga. ForeVR plans to release its first game in early 2021 on Oculus VR headsets and emphasizes one-handed, accessible controls to broaden the VR audience. The team believes the affordability of devices like the Oculus Quest 2, social distancing trends, and nostalgia for group games create a market opportunity for accessible sports titles. Its strategy is to translate popular in-real-life games into social, family-friendly VR experiences to drive broader headset adoption.
