Form Bio was spun out of Colossal Biosciences as an independent software company that packages data management, verified workflows, results visualization and collaboration into a single platform. The product uses deep learning AI and machine-learning models to help scientists manage large datasets, run validated workflows, visualize results and collaborate across labs, companies and universities. The platform includes an extensive catalog of verified workflows covering use cases from ancient DNA analysis and transcriptomics to AAV gene therapy, and is designed for applications in drug discovery, gene and cell therapy, manufacturing efficiency and academic research. Form Bio was developed by Colossal’s computation biologists together with the Church Lab and more than 35 geneticists across Colossal’s Boston and Dallas labs, and the platform was in development for roughly 18 months. Leadership changes accompanying the spinout include Kent Wakeford moving to co-CEO alongside Andrew Busey. The company positions the platform as a foundation for advanced, AI-based applications tailored to specific industries and aspires to be a more open, transparent “GitHub for science.”
